Breakwater Federal Credit Union and Michigan Tech's Center for Educational Outreach partner to improve financial literacy on campus. Recently Breakwater FCU and MTU's Center for Educational Outreach announced a partnership to offer Financial Literacy Education for incoming TRIO Upward Bound students. The six-week summer program will allow students to explore subjects, engage in hands-on activities, and learn new skills.

Laurium will continue working with Moyle Construction on plans for the new Department of Public Works garage. Earlier in the year the village was struck by a fire at the garage. Over the past several months village manager Ian Lewis has worked with insurance adjusters to file claims for the loss of the structure and the majority of Laurium's equipment. With the help of Moyle, Laurium was able to claim more than a 3 million dollar value for the Department of Public Works.
