A substantial cut to the Mills County Economic Development Foundation will have an impact, according to its executive director. The foundation saw its funding slashed from around $195,000 to just $10,000 in the county’s fiscal year 2026 budget, which supervisors approved April 22. “We will have to tighten our belts and cut out certain activities,” Mark Norman said.

The Glenwood Community School District board passed an operating budget April 14 for next year which includes another reduction in taxes. What’s more, the district is planning to start a new method of teaching this fall, pending state approval. The five-member body unanimously approved a budget totaling $35,875,018 for fiscal year 2026, with a property tax rate that dropped to $13.25 per $1,000 in taxable valuation from $14.50 per $1,000 in taxable valution this year.
