Little Falls woman charged following parking lot attack

BAXTER โ A 31-year-old Little Falls woman was charged Thursday, April 3, after she allegedly attempted to run over multiple individuals in a Baxter parking lot. Stephanie Marie May is charged with three felony counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, misdemeanor domestic assault and misdemeanor damage to a vehicle. On April 4, May posted a $10,000 bond with conditions. She is due back in Crow Wing County District Court on June 11.
Officials urge caution as wildfire season arrives

BRAINERD â Warmer weather is coming and the snow is disappearing, meaning grass and wildfire season has officially started in the Brainerd lakes area. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources issued further burning restrictions this week. Brainerd Deputy Fire Chief Dave Cox on Tuesday, April 8, said there are no permits for burning at this time due to the weather conditions and the amount, or lack of, vegetation greening up.

BAXTER — Despite a series of disruptions from an audience member, Republican candidates for the vacant Senate District 6 seat fielded questions during a forum on Tuesday, April 8, at Forestview Middle School, ahead of the primary election. The primary is set for Tuesday, April 15, when eight Republicans will face off for the seat. The winner will move on to the general election April 29 against DFL candidate Denise Slipy.

BRAINERD — Families, veterans, current service members and a group of Filipino Americans joined together Wednesday, April 9, to remember all those “fighting bastards” on the 83rd anniversary of the fall of Bataan. The ceremony took place at the Brainerd Training and Community Center, the home of the 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 194th Armor Regiment. Keynote speaker John Erickson welcomed those in attendance and all those who have long passed.

BRAINERD — A grand jury returned an indictment including multiple first-degree murder charges March 31 against a 35-year-old Brainerd man accused of the November shooting death of another man and the abduction of a pregnant woman and her children near Brainerd.
Brainerd man arrested for chasing man in SUV

BRAINERD — A 55-year-old Brainerd man was charged April 2 after he allegedly chased a man down in his SUV in Crosby. Thomas Anthony Bour was charged in Crow Wing County District Court with felony second-degree assault, misdemeanor fifth-degree assault and misdemeanor reckless driving. On April 2, Bour was denied a public defender as he is not financially eligible for one, court documents state. Bour posted a $1,000 bond with conditions on April 3.
Former students charged after Brainerd High School break-in

BRAINERD — Two men were charged March 21 after they allegedly broke into the Brainerd High School and stole multiple items. Corey Walter Taylor, 20, of Monticello, and Logan Shane Miller, 20, of Brainerd, were both charged with felony second-degree burglary, felony theft and gross misdemeanor damage to property. Both men were released from jail without conditions. Taylor is due back in Crow Wing County Court on May 1 and Miller is due back on May 8.

BRAINERD — Spring will have to be on hold just a bit longer. The late season snow storm that rolled across northern Minnesota Tuesday, April 1 through early Thursday dropped several inches of snow and was a factor in numerous vehicle crashes in the Brainerd lakes area. And the storm lived up to its forecast, dropping anywhere from 3.2 inches to 10.5 inches of snow across the area.

Fire at Crow Wing Recycling shuts down Industrial Park Road

BRAINERD โ A section of Industrial Park Road was closed Tuesday, April 1, after a fire broke out at Crow Wing Recycling in Brainerd. Pulse Point listed the fire call out at 7:12 a.m. with Brainerd Fire Department responding. The Brainerd Police Department responded to the fire and closed a section of Industrial Park Road, from South Sixth to South 10th streets, at around 7:20 a.m. A large water hose could be seen running across the roadway into the recycling center.
