BAXTER โ A 31-year-old Little Falls woman was charged Thursday, April 3, after she allegedly attempted to run over multiple individuals in a Baxter parking lot. Stephanie Marie May is charged with three felony counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, misdemeanor domestic assault and misdemeanor damage to a vehicle. On April 4, May posted a $10,000 bond with conditions. She is due back in Crow Wing County District Court on June 11.

BRAINERD â Warmer weather is coming and the snow is disappearing, meaning grass and wildfire season has officially started in the Brainerd lakes area. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources issued further burning restrictions this week. Brainerd Deputy Fire Chief Dave Cox on Tuesday, April 8, said there are no permits for burning at this time due to the weather conditions and the amount, or lack of, vegetation greening up.

BAXTER — Despite a series of disruptions from an audience member, Republican candidates for the vacant Senate District 6 seat fielded questions during a forum on Tuesday, April 8, at Forestview Middle School, ahead of the primary election. The primary is set for Tuesday, April 15, when eight Republicans will face off for the seat. The winner will move on to the general election April 29 against DFL candidate Denise Slipy.

BRAINERD — Families, veterans, current service members and a group of Filipino Americans joined together Wednesday, April 9, to remember all those “fighting bastards” on the 83rd anniversary of the fall of Bataan. The ceremony took place at the Brainerd Training and Community Center, the home of the 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 194th Armor Regiment. Keynote speaker John Erickson welcomed those in attendance and all those who have long passed.
