Heartland Park’s basketball courts will soon see improvements. There’s potential for expanding pickleball and disc golf in Hubbard County as well. In a mad dash, children scooped up 17,000 candy-filled eggs from Muskie Park on Saturday, April 19. It was the 21st annual Easter event, hosted by the Nevis Lions Club. “We filled roughly 17,000 eggs with candy and prize chips,” said Lions event coordinator Barb Deery. Kids who found a token inside their plastic egg retrieved a prize. There were about 800 tokens, Deery explained, each color coded per age group. “We had three different colored coins. Menahga City Councilor Durwin Tomperi expressed alarm at the potential expense of a city-owned nursing facility project. The council discussed the possible expansion of Greenwood Connections (GWC), specifically Woodside Manor, at their Monday, April 14 meeting. Woodside Manor is the assisted living complex within GWC. In March, the council accepted a $8,500 planning proposal from ICS Consulting LLC to create a schematic design and produce an overall budget estimate for the expansion.

Hubbard County commissioners told state senators that Minnesota’s projected state deficit in 2026-27 and 2028-29 cannot be balanced with local property tax levies.
