Oregon Attorney General Rayfield sues Trump administration over tariffs

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — As the ongoing legal battle rages over the tariffs announced by President Donald Trump, Oregon is launching a lawsuit against those tariffs. Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield’s office announced the lawsuit, which was filed electronically in the Court of International Trade in New York, just after noon on Wednesday.

TROUTDALE, Ore. (KOIN) — One person was critically hurt when fire swept through a Troutdale house early Saturday evening. The fire at 1838 SW Hensley was reported around 6:30 p.m. Two people were in the home at the time of the fire that began upstairs. About a dozen fire units responded to the scene and needed a lot of water to battle the blaze that badly damaged the house.

(KOIN) — A teenage athlete and a coach from Umpqua Community College were killed in a crash that injured 8 other students and staff while traveling from a softball game Friday night, the Oregon State Police said in a release. A Chevy Silverado crossed the centerline on Highway 42 in Coos County just before 10 p.m. Friday and slammed head-on into the bus carrying UCC softball team members plus the driver, authorities said.

Right around 6 p.m., officers on patrol spotted the person and stopped at NW 21st and Hoyt. HOOD RIVER, Ore. (KOIN) — Stephen Hayes was a joy to work with, said Suzanne Wright Baumhackl, the co-owner of Solstice Woodfire Pizza in Hood River. Hayes, 38, was a bartender and server at Solstice, which was closed Monday to mourn his sudden death Friday afternoon. Hayes confronted two people and possibly a third who were trying to steal a bike from his car.
