BOSTON (WBSM) — The Wareham man arrested last month for allegedly possessing and receiving child sexual abuse material has now been indicted by a federal grand jury. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Brandon Bendall, 49, was indicted on one count of possession of child pornography and one count of receipt of child pornography. Bendall was arrested and charged by criminal complaint on May 2.

NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford’s historic Star Store will soon get new life while remaining an integral part of the city’s arts scene. Mayor Jon Mitchell and the New Bedford Economic Development Council announced Monday that “agreements are in place to reopen the former Star Store building under new ownership, transforming it into a regional arts hub,” stated a City of New Bedford release.

NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — The carnival is returning to New Bedford’s Near North End, and this year it will be enforcing its policy on minors in attendance that has been enacted during its shows at other SouthCoast locations. Fiesta Shows is setting up shop at 730 Belleville Ave, the same spot where it held the carnival last year, in the parking lot between Titleist and Precix. It will take place from Thursday, June 5 through Sunday, June 8.

FAIRHAVEN (WBSM) — For the next month or so, a portion of Fairhaven’s Phoenix Bike Trail will be inaccessible due to sewer work. The Fairhaven Department of Public Works posted to its Facebook page that the work would be taking place, while also apologizing for not posting it with advanced notice. The work has already begun, and the portion of the trail in which the work is being done has already been shut down. The area is behind the Stop & Shop plaza, east of Sconticut Neck Road.
