(WNCN) — The Carolina Hurricanes came limping into the post season, losers in seven of their last eight regular season games but it didn’t take the Canes long to show that the post season is a different animal, with Carolina scoring the first three goals of the game and never looking back in a 4-1 win over New Jersey.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Shaw University head football coach Lamar Manigo addresses his squad as a challenging spring camp comes to an end. “Some of the guys left and went into the portal on us, but we’re going to bring more talent in here and get it rolling in the fall,” said Manigo. The Bears ended spring drills with just 55 players and one quarterback on the roster. Shaw’s top two signal callers from a year ago left after longtime head coach Adrian Jones was let go.

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – A familiar face will be prowling the sidelines next season at North Carolina Central. Davius Richard will coach the Eagles quarterbacks after seeing his playing career come to an end. Richard dislocated his right ankle while playing in an HBCU All-Star game just over a year ago. “Obviously, it forced me to medically retire due to the damage, but I look at it on the bright side. I feel God and I try not to question God as much as possible,” said Richard.

The Junior Hurricanes will play their district tournament this weekend outside of Washington D.C. Win and it’s off to Nationals in Madison, Wisconsin. “We’ve got a very competitive team and that’s what you want, we don’t want our kids to move away too early and chase their dreams if they don’t have to,” said Junior Hurricanes head coach Justin Williams.

Duke is at the arena for a shoot around. ALL roster players are here including Cooper Flagg who walked in just like he walked in before yesterday’s game. Not even a hint of a limp. @WNCN @321cuekevin @JordanCrammer
