    A 45-year-old Connecticut man was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2023 shooting of a Coastal Carolina University student. Abdullah Seifullah was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and convicted by an Horry County jury on Thursday, June 5. Judge Michael Nettles sentenced Seifullah to the maximum sentence allowed for each crime: life in prison without the possibility of parole and an extra five years.

    North Myrtle Beach is a step closer to choosing its next city manager. At a special called meeting Thursday, June 5, North Myrtle Beach city council approved a motion to identify three finalists for the vacant city manager position: Ryan Fabbri, Edwin Madden Jr. and Timothy Owens. The city manager position became open last October when council voted to terminate the contract of Mike Mahaney who most recently held the position.

    A 20-year-old from Spartanburg has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting at police officers during the Carolina Country Music Festival two years ago. Chance Kenaz Benson pleaded guilty on Tuesday, June 3, to attempted murder, first-degree assault and battery and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, a news release from the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office states. At 11 p.m. on June 10, 2023, police responded to a call about people brandishing firearms.
