ST. JOSEPH — St. Joseph officials are making several changes to its paid downtown parking program – including offering some free parking to city residents and ending enforcement after 5 p.m. – in response to a series of complaints from residents and business owners. During a special meeting Thursday, the St. Joseph City Commission spent more than two hours listening to over three dozen people list complaints about the program.

BRIDGMAN — Bobby Nydza is an emergency room doctor by trade, but a woodworker at heart. The Bridgman resident, who works at Corewell Health hospitals in St. Joseph, Niles and Watervliet – while also taking extra shifts in Indiana – recently opened his woodshop to the public for art classes. Originally from Ohio, Nydza came to Southwest Michigan for his residency, where they asked him to stay on.

ST. JOSEPH — Southwest Michigan’s housing market sales slipped in April from the robust results in March. According to a report from the Southwestern Michigan Association of Realtors, the number of houses sold in April fell 20 percent to 196 from 245 in April 2024.
