    THREE OAKS — The River Valley Board of Education during its April 28 meeting received a report on a 10-day student trip to Europe over spring break that included Switzerland and Italy (including The Vatican, Florence and Venice). Teacher Rachel Fambro said the major themes of the trip were The Renaissance and The Roman Empire. A total of 24 students participated.

    THREE OAKS — A series of “new” looks at the past were unveiled on the evening of May 1 during a sneak peek event at the The Region of Three Oaks Museum. The 2025 season officially began the next day (Friday, May 2). The museum, located at 5 Featherbone Avenue in Three Oaks, operates from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday through the end of October.

    LAKESIDE — The Red Arrow Raiders golf team finished a May 5 BCS Jamboree played at Chikaming Country Club tied with Our Lady of the Lake (both teams fired scores of 203). The New Buffalo-River Valley combined squad placed first on a tie-breaker, although the Lakers still lead 9-6 in overall conference points.

    NEW BUFFALO — After years of planning, a 60-mile non-motorized trail from Chicago and New Buffalo is one step closer to reality. “What started years ago as a bold idea is now hitting the pavement – literally,” said Gary Wood, president of Friends of Berrien Country Trails. “Today, we celebrate Michigan’s first stretch of the Marquette Greenway Trail.”Wood spoke Friday, April 25, during the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the trailhead at Smith and Mechanic streets in New Buffalo.
