Elk Grove drivers seeing red over stoplight wait times ELK GROVE — The City of Elk Grove is working to synchronize its major traffic signals to reduce driver frustration and congestion. City of Elk Grove Public Works Director Jeff Werner said they coordinated the signal timing on Elk Grove and Laguna Boulevards five years ago and saw a travel time reduction of about 50%. The goal is to do the same, but drivers will have to buckle up during the testing period.

WOODLAND – The lone survivor from the serial stabbings in spring 2023 in Davis testified on Wednesday. Kimberlee Guillory came face to face in the courtroom with her alleged attacker for the first time. Prosecutors said that Carlos Reales Dominguez stabbed her three times the night of May 1, 2023. She started crying in the courtroom when her 911 call from that night was played for the jury.

ELK GROVE — The Elk Grove Police Department put out a warning on Tuesday to beware of distraction robberies, with thieves snatching expensive jewelry off the elderly and women. "I know it is just material, but for her, it is very important because she has worn it for so many years, and she is thinking how I can forget the memories I have with the chain," said Ramesh Kumar, son of the latest victim in Elk Grove.

WOODLAND — The long-awaited trial of Carlos Reales Dominguez, accused of the 2023 Davis stabbings that left two people dead and one other person injured, continued Monday with opening statements on Monday. The prosecution argued that the three attacks were premeditated — from the knife they said Dominguez bought on Amazon during finals weeks the prior December to how he allegedly powered his phone off during the attacks.

Big cuts coming to Sacramento as city navigates budget deficit SACRAMENTO – The City of Sacramento released its proposed budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year on Wednesday. The interim city manager is proposing a $1.65 billion budget to try and close the gap on the $44 million funding gap. "Our revenue is up, the challenge here is just spending, costs, exceeds revenue," said Sacramento City Councilmember for District 4 Phil Pluckenbaum.
