At least eight NYPD police cars -- six marked, two unmarked -- in a fenced-in parking lot in Brooklyn are believed to have been intentionally set on fire early Thursday, multiple sources with direct knowledge of the investigation say. Those sources say incendiary devices were found in and around some of the police vehicles. Details on those weren't immediately clear. The search is on for two suspects, the sources say.

NYPD officers responding to a report of a burglary in Queens opened fire on the suspects as they fled the scene Friday, nearly hitting the cops as they sped off in multiple vehicles, authorities say. It wasn't immediately clear how many suspects were at the scene, near 32nd Avenue and Farrington Street, when officers arrived around 5:30 a.m. It also wasn't clear how many rounds cops fired, or if anyone in any of the getaway vehicles was hit by gunfire.

Two people died in two separate Manhattan shootings, one in Midtown, one in Chelsea, in less than two hours overnight, and no arrests have been made -- a chilling pair of violent acts just days after city officials touted lower murder rates across the city. According to investigators, cops first responded to the Chelsea shooting, which happened on West 17th Street shortly after 9 p.m. Officers checking out a 911 call found a 21-year-old man unconscious with a gunshot wound to the neck.

Two MTA workers in the Bronx are recovering after being attacked by a passenger who hit them with a scooter, according to the NYPD. Police tell News 4, the suspect started swinging the fold-up scooter at the two employees who attempted to wake him up on the No. 5 train when it reached the end of the line at the Eastchester–Dyre Avenue station. The attack happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning when the suspect hit one victim in the face when he tried to wake him up, police said.
