Pueblo is in for a heavy deluge of rain that will bring an estimated 2 inches of moisture and won't let up until the evening of May 7. The rain is being caused by a weather system that is set up over northern New Mexico and is "just spinning and not moving much, which gives a pretty good potential for moisture in Colorado," said Michael Nasko, observation program leader for the National Weather Service Pueblo office.

Another round of layoffs at the Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant east of Pueblo will result in the loss of 48 jobs this summer, after which about 900 workers will remain on the job as demolition work gets underway. Pueblo Chemical Depot workers destroyed the last munition in the Colorado mustard agent stockpile June 22, 2023. The herculean task of eliminating the leftover World War II munitions took nearly seven years and employed 1,500 workers.
