On Wednesday, April 9, deputies said they stopped the car in Buckeye Township because the driver was wanted on a two-count drug warrant. He’s been identified as James Hughes III, 25.

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- 11th Street in Traverse City is now open after it was temporarily closed Monday morning, April 14, as crews put out a tent-fire at The Pines. The Traverse City Fire Department said it took firefighters about 15 minutes to put out the fire. No one was inside the tent at the time of the fire. They got there around 10 a.m. Monday. The Pines is an unofficial area where those experiencing homelessness camp.

MASON COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A missing woman who survived a weekend in the cold northern Michigan conditions is safe and sound thanks to the search efforts of Mason County Sheriff’s deputies and other law enforcement agencies. The Mason County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called out to a burned car Sunday afternoon, April 6. During their investigation, they found the car matched the description of a reported missing person out of the Norton Shores Police Department.

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Grand Traverse County commissioner Rob Hentschel will not face charges for an alleged sexual assault, according to Benzie County Prosecutor Sara Swanson. Swanson said she was appointed special prosecutor after the Attorney General determined that the Grand Traverse County prosecutor had a conflict of interest. “After carefully reviewing all the evidence, the Prosecutor has declined to charge Robert Hentschel with a crime,” she wrote in a statement.
