Cheboygan Hydro Services asserts its ownership of the hydro equipment and claims an eviction initiated by Homco was unlawful. CHEBOYGAN — A fire at a residence in Benton Township on Tuesday, May 6 has left a man with injuries that required him to be airlifted to a hospital in Grand Rapids. Alverno Fire Department Chief Ron Fenlon said an official from the Cheboygan Fire Department was in the neighborhood of South River Road and Addison Drive when he heard the call and was on the scene shortly before 8 a.m.Fenlon said his firefighters arrived minutes later to find a home engulfed in flames.

NORTHERN MICHIGAN — By a slim margin, voters in areas served by Onaway Area Schools rejected a bond proposal while voters in the Vanderbilt Area School district extended a sinking fund millage in the Tuesday, May 6 election. The Onaway district was seeking a bond proposal that would raise $10.9 million to do infrastructure and security upgrades to the school building. Unofficial results show the measure lost with 572 no votes to 550 yes votes.
