And, worryingly, the 19% jump in the county Longford service is 'bucking the trend' compared to other areas in the Midlands.

Longford Rugby Club marked the official launch of the club’s partnership and renaming of their ground to Precision Health Park this Wednesday with Leinster, Ireland and British and Irish Lions player Robbie Henshaw the special guest speaker. The monetary value of the five year sponsorship deal has not been disclosed, however, it has been described as a 'substantial amount'.

Local people gathered recently for a thanksgiving service for Church of Ireland Lay Pastor, Ruth Galbraith who is retiring after eight years service in the Ardagh Union of Parishes. A sizeable gathering of parishioners came together on Sunday, April 27 at the Lecture Hall in Kenagh near St George’s Church of Ireland for a special thanksgiving service.

Horse racing enthusiasts and fashionistas thoroughly enjoyed the annual Longford GAA Race Day last week with top class racing, a host of attractions and an abundance of style on show. Chairperson of the Race Day organising committee, Martin Skelly said the 21st hosting of the popular fundraiser at Punchestown last Wednesday in balmy sunshine was a fantastic occasion.
