"Proper medical, health and safety protocol for those affected were enforced and followed," officials said. On Friday, a woman and her child petted a grounded bat infected with rabies, and protocols were followed again to deal with the situation, officials said.

A man has been indicted on allegations he caused the death of Brayden Patrick Shockley, 30, in a motorcycle street race in Abilene, according to court documents. A Taylor County grand jury handed down an indictment Thursday against Malik William Winfield of Abilene for a charge of racing on highway causing death, court records show. He was charged in connection with a crash involving three motorcycles Feb. 20, 2024, near the 4300 block of Pine Street.

Federal authorities are investigating the cyber attack. A third 7 Brew Coffee stand is coming to San Angelo with an estimated opening date at the end of 2025, Guadalupe Hernandez, a director of stand openings, said. The location for the new coffee drive-through at 6105 Sherwood Way is bare as of now, Hernandez, who is from San Angelo, said. But closer to the projected Dec. 1 opening date, the prefabricated parts of the stand will be shipped to the city and stacked like a Tetris game for assembly in 7 Brew's unique method.
