RANTOUL, Ill. (WCIA) — The Central Maroons will look to find redemption in Saturday’s regional final in Rantoul against Mahomet-Seymour, starting at noon. The Maroons lost in the regional final last season. Central enters this game 24-3 on the season and the top seed in the Rantoul regional. Standout sophomores on this team like Grace Bandy and Hailey Helm have their sights set on earning this senior class some postseason hardware. “I’m super excited,” Bandy said.

MAHOMET, Ill. (WCIA) — MSHS Senior Pitcher Mason Orton is enjoying one last high school postseason before making the move to college. Orton is signed to pitch at Northern Illinois. The lefty surpassed the 200 career strikeout mark in May. Bulldogs head coach Nic Difilippo said Orton thrives in high-pressure moments on the bump, but it’s his attention to detail that separates him. “When you see him on the mound, he’s a gamer,” Difilippo said.
