SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A month and a half after Greg Silm decided to step down, the Northview Wildcats have named their new leader on the gridiron. On Monday, the Sylvania Schools Board of Education approved the hiring of Barry Bock as the new head football coach. "Living in the community played a heavy influence for me and my family," Bock said. "At the same time, it was a tough decision. We're excited to be Wildcats." Familiarity played a role in his decision to move programs.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — A pivotal matchup in the MAC Baseball standings wraps up this weekend in Bowling Green. Falcons playing host to 1st place Ball State at Steller Field. Among the arms in action for head coach Kyle Hallock is relief pitcher Connar Penrod, who recently made history for the program. "I knew what it was going into it, that it was for the record," Penrod said. "So it was cool to accomplish that." On April 12 in Kalamazoo, the senior righty reached the pinnacle of any BGSU closer.

TOLEDO, Ohio — We are closing in on another playoff experience for the Toledo Walleye, a franchise that is not only making its ninth consecutive ECHL Kelly Cup postseason appearance but has shone out of the gates in recent years. The Fish have scored sweeps in each of the last two first-round series they've played in, including the upcoming opponent, Indy Fuel, whom Toledo eliminated 4-0 in 2023. "We finished first for a reason," Walleye's top-scoring defenseman Jalen Smereck said.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Conference and league realignment throughout Northwest Ohio appears to be giving the NCAA a run for its money. Over the past school year, we've seen a multitude of changes when it comes to area programs changing allegiances. The Blanchard Valley Conference is offering up the latest domino. On Monday, commissioner Bruce Bame sent out a letter to schools offering interest to join as a member. "We have great education in our league and great coaches for small schools," Bame said.
