TOLEDO, Ohio — It's the time of year when more motorcyclists are out on the roads, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is urging the public to be on the lookout for them due to the increase in number of crashes, both fatal and nonfatal over the last 5 years. In 2024, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that motorcycle crashes rose 4% with 20,000 crashes reported between 2020 and 2024. Despite fatal crashes lowering by 7% during that time period, there were still over 1,000 deaths.
