John Hoffman is still hospitalized in serious but stable condition one week after he and his wife, Yvette, were both shot multiple times in their Champlin home in a politically motivated attack. Investigators believe the same gunman fatally shot Minnesota House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, inside their Brooklyn Park home about 90 minutes later.

A Twin Cities community gathered in grief on Friday as they tried to find a way forward. At Champlin Park High School, the community chose unity over fear at a healing event to mourn Minnesota House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark. Melissa and Mark Hortman were shot and killed in their Brooklyn Park home on June 14. In Champlin, the pain feels personal for many because it's home to state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette.

According to a federal complaint charging him with assault on a federal officer, agents were executing a federal immigration warrant for 39-year-old Roberto Carlos Munoz, who they say is in the country unlawfully. Munoz was convicted of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in 2023.
