Over on page six of the Royals daily media game notes is a chart labeled “ROYALS W-L RECORD BY LINEUP CARD.” Its two grids are divided by batting order starts and position starts. And through their 39th game on Thursday, there was exactly one common denominator on those: Every time they’ve taken the field, MVP candidate Bobby Witt Jr. has batted second and played shortstop. Nothing else has been the same every day.

A day after Noah Cameron conducted a no-hitter into the seventh inning in his MLB premiere last week in Tampa, the Royals … demoted him. With staff standard-bearer Cole Ragans ready to return from a groin injury, Cameron promptly was headed back to Triple-A Omaha despite one of the most scintillating debuts in club history. Sure, it’s tough to send someone down after that sort of performance, Royals general manager J.J. Picollo said the other day.

When Kathy Nelson travels internationally, promoting Kansas City and seeking to bring events here, she inevitably is asked if she knows Patrick Mahomes and if she's met Taylor Swift. People often bring up Ted Lasso, aka Our Own Jason Sudeikis. Lately, she even is questioned about old Route 66, since the so-called Mother Road that passes elsewhere through Missouri will have its 100th anniversary celebrated next year.

Column on the “black box” of how Kansas City Royals’ lineups are created day-in and day-out: https://t.co/eS805k1fOL

Asked by The Star’s @pgrathoff about being on a roll w 15 wins in last 17 games, BWJ said didn’t so much consider it a roll as just being Royals baseball and how “it’s going to be.”

Royals sweep CWS with a 10-0 win; that's their sixth straight and 15th in last 17. Kris Bubic, man, ERA now 1.69.
