Almost 3,000 additional families across Northern Ireland have signed up for Tax-Free Childcare in the past year, new figures reveal. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is encouraging others to make use of the scheme now to help pay for childcare in the summer holidays. In the UK, nearly 826,000 working families saved up to £2,000 per child with Tax-Free Childcare in the 2024 to 2025 tax year.

A new Home Bargains store is to open in Ballymena on Saturday after an investment of around £5million. The new store at 135 Queen Street will be officially opened at 8am on June 21 with the creation of 75 new jobs. It’s the second new store to be launched by the discount retailer in Co Antrim in recent weeks, after the official opening of the new Home Bargains at Shore Commercial Park, Belfast Road, Carrickfergus on June 7.

Police have renewed their appeal and issued a fresh image in the hope of locating missing man Martin Bonnar. Police and Martin’s family are becoming increasingly concerned regarding his whereabouts. They are urging Martin or anyone he is with to contact police or his family. Martin is 63 years old and is described as approximately 5’ 5” tall, of slim build, and is bald on the top of his head with hair around the side of his head. He wears glasses and usually would be clean shaven.

Police say they are becoming increasingly concerned for a missing 63-year-old man last seen in Newtownabbey. Martin Bonnar was last sighted in the area of Vandyck Gardens at approximately 4.30pm on Wednesday, June 4. He is described as being approximately 5’ 5” tall, of slim build and bald on the top of his head with hair around the side. He wears glasses and usually would be clean shaven. Martin was last seen wearing jeans, a black Harrington jacket and black Adidas trainers.
