SALEM, Ore. (KATU) — Rideshare drivers in Oregon may move a step closer to securing new labor protections statewide. Senate Bill 1166 would require transportation network companies (TNCs) such as Uber and Lyft to pay drivers a minimum wage per ride. The bill, as introduced, requires TNCs to pay drivers at least $0.68 per minute and $1.59 per mile during passenger trips. It also sets a minimum of $6.00 per trip, so TNCs would have to pay the greater amount based on the length of the drive.
