Statesman Journal
The Statesman Journal is the primary daily newspaper serving Salem, Oregon. Established in 1851 as the Oregon Statesman, it eventually combined with the Capital Journal to create the current newspaper, which is the second-oldest in the state. The Statesman Journal is available in Salem, Keizer, and parts of the mid-Willamette Valley. As of 2012, its average circulation on weekdays was 27,859, while Sunday readership was around 36,323. It is owned by the national Gannett Company, which also owns the nearby Stayton Mail and Silverton Appeal Tribune.

The city of Aurora has sued the Oregon Aviation Department to prevent the state from submitting a master plan for the Aurora State Airport to the Federal Aviation Administration for approval. The city argues in its lawsuit filed in Marion County Circuit Court that Oregon's land use processes would be bypassed if the master plan is approved by the FAA and adopted by the Oregon Aviation Board.

The community center geared toward older people at offers more than 200 programs and services, a fitness center, retirement planning, a woodshop, classes, respite programs and artisan shops. Its average daily attendance in 2024 was 712. Services at Center 50+ are at risk of being cut.
