DOOR COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - On Thursday, four Door County communities announced a partnership with AT&T that’s bringing fiber broadband to the area. The project costs more than $24 million, with the end goal of offering fast and reliable high-speed internet service. Government officials from Egg Harbor, Sevastopol, and Sturgeon Bay say they’ve worked closely with AT&T over the past 2 years to bring high-speed internet to rural parts of Door County that sometimes struggle with connectivity issues.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Emplify Health by Bellin and Marquette University announced a mental health education pilot program on Wednesday. The initiative addresses the mental health professional shortage in Northeast Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Thanks to a gift from the Richard J. Resch Foundation, the Resch Mental Health Initiative will create a pathway for students to get training, licensing, and employment opportunities for mental health care providers.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The homeless crisis in Green Bay is continuing to rise, and it’s raising concerns, as some have been staying in city parks after hours. City officials say they are working on solutions to re-house those in need. According to a point in time count by the city of Green Bay, there are over 600 homeless people in the community. Many shelters say they are operating at capacity or with a wait list, with some as long as 200 people.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Federal lawmakers are considering cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, as part of Trump’s signature tax bill. SNAP helps millions of Americans afford food and groceries every day. If approved, these cuts could cost the state nearly $314 million a year to make up the shortfall. Machaela Jackson, a mother of 4, currently receives $70 a month in SNAP benefits. She worries about what her benefits may look like if the act passes.
