If Pelham residents are captured on camera at a public space, they will now know about it. Town council approved an updated video surveillance policy it said balances privacy rights with public and corporate security needs — and ensures all public spaces remain safe and welcoming. In February, council received a closed session report on the security of town property, directing staff to prepare a video surveillance policy as recommended by the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC).

With a Field of Dreams grant in hand, Pelham is pitching in an additional $320,000 to revitalize Centennial Park’s well-used baseball diamond. Selected as one of Jays Care’s 2025 Field of Dreams grant recipients, the Fenwick park is receiving $88,355 toward renovating diamond 1. The $450,000 project includes converting the infield to clay, enhancing the dugouts and installing energy-efficient LED lighting.

As visitors step into Thorold Secondary School on Saturday to celebrate its 150th anniversary, they’ll take a nostalgic walk down memory lane. During the open house, which runs from 1 to 4 p.m., visitors can go inside the gym where oldphotographs and memorabilia will be on display, alongside a giant slide show featuring yearbook snapshots and vintage images chronicling the school’s evolution from 1875 to 2025.
