Shanklin & District History Society (S&DHS) are holding a Free Open Day Exhibition on Saturday 24th May from 10:00am to 15:00 at the Falcon Cross Hall in Shanklin. The aim of this annual event is to share our ever growing S&DHS Archive and celebrate the history of Shanklin. The wide ranging display will include images of Shanklin Railway Station through time and mark the end of World War II with a display of military artefacts.

Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club Junior squad returned to the iconic Olympic Venue of Dorney Lake, for the annual Ball Cup South Regatta on Sunday, taking a record-breaking clutch of 4 gold and 3 silver medals. Gold winning performances came from Connie Batley-Smith in both the J14 and J15 single sculls (1x) and with Olivia Mumberson in the 2x, crossing the line with impressive margins over the rest of the field.

3 races were staged at the Shanklin Regatta before it was suspended due to deteriorating sea conditions. Shanklin Rowing Club found themselves high on the aggregate shield with 1st, 2nd and 4th places recorded in the first 2 races. The Boys Quad of James Travers, Sam Meadowcroft, Isaac King, Fin Diffey and Esme Walters (cox) stormed to victory, winning by over 3 lengths on home water.
