CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas Education Agency (TEA) on Thursday morning released its long-awaited accountability ratings, assigning an "A-F" rating for all Texas public schools and districts. Kingsville ISD, which sued the TEA over changing its standards for grades, received an F rating and a 59 grade overall on a 1-100 scale. The ratings are from 2023 but they're just now being released after that 19-month court battle.

SANDIA, Texas — A man is in critical condition after officers shot them following a car chase Wednesday in Sandia. HALO-Flight airlifted the person from the scene. No officers were hurt. Authorities say this started when Corpus Christi police pulled the car over in the Calallen area and the driver fled. CCPD chose to not pursue, said Public Information Lt. Eryca Gonzalez. A short time later, an officer with Nueces County Precinct 5 Constable's Office spotted the vehicle.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Family and friends said goodbye Tuesday to Edward Espino, the Corpus Christi man and military veteran killed in a road rage shooting in Austin on March 16. They described the 47-year-old as "the brightest light," saying he could make anyone he met laugh. Espino was very active in the Corpus Christi theatre community, auditioning for and landing many roles at the Harbor Playhouse and Aurora Arts Theatre. His family said he loved to sing, dance and act.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A city truck hit a child on a bicycle Friday evening, sending the child to the hospital with head and leg injuries. Police tell 3NEWS the child was conscious and breathing when paramedics arrived. 3NEWS video from the scene shows the child's bicycle underneath a Corpus Christi Water truck. The accident took place around 6 p.m. at the intersection of 6th Street and Booty Street near Corpus Christi Montessori School. This is a breaking news story.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi's planned desalination plant received a major boost Thursday as the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality granted Corpus Christi a discharge permit. This is the final permit the desalination plant needed before starting construction. Specifically this discharge permit is for the planned desalination plant in the Inner Harbor. It would produce 20 million gallons of water per day (MGD) initially and expand to 30 MGD in a second and final phase.
