ABILENE, Texas — The race for Place 5 on the Abilene City Council is headed for a runoff. No candidate got fifty percent of the vote. RELATED | RESULTS: May 3 City and School ElectionsKyle McAlister got 2,591 votes, Miguel Espinoza got 2,237 votes and Cynthia Alvidrez received 377 votes. That means McAlister and Espinoza will face off in a runoff set for June 7th.

AUSTIN, Texas — A criminal investigator with the Tom Green County District Attorney's Office will be honored at a ceremony in Austin Saturday evening. According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Investigator Steven A. Carnes suffered a fatal heart attack while attempting to make an arrest in 2022. The Texas Peace Officers' Memorial Ceremony honors those who've died in the line of duty. It'll be held at the Texas Peace Officers' Memorial Monument on the grounds of the Texas State Capitol.

TYE, Texas — The City of Tye is under a boil water notice that will last for 72 hours after a water main break. The City said Public Works addressed and repaired a water main leak in the 700 block of FM 707 Friday. This notice has been issued as a precaution. All water customers should boil their water before consumption, washing hands/face and brushing teeth. Children, seniors and those with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria.

Abilene, Texas — Abilene police are looking into a downtown motorcycle incident. It happened at about 1:15 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Pine and North 4th Streets. Police said they found a 28-year-old man lying in the intersection. They said he was on a motorcycle on the top floor of the parking garage of the First Financial Bank building taking photos when he went over the retaining wall and landed on the street below.
