ABILENE, Texas — Thunderstorms moved through most of the area Thursday evening. Strong winds were the main problem from these storms. Winds gusted to 75 mph at the Eastland Airport. A site south of Santa Anna recorded a 65 mph wind gust. Brownwood Regional Airport measured a 59 mph gust. A site near Albany measure 58 mph winds. Near Throckmorton, a weather observation site measure a 58 mph wind gust. A volunteer site in Coleman reported a 58 mph wind gust.

ABILENE, Texas — The National Weather Service says nine tornadoes occurred Sunday afternoon and evening from just east of Abilene to southwest Parker County. 1) A tornado was videoed three miles south southeast of Eula in Callahan County at 5:03 pm. Trees were reported damaged. 2) Power poles and power lines were downed and trees were damaged in an area about 6 miles northeast of Albany in Shackelford County. This was caused by an apparent tornado at about 5:19 pm.

ABILENE, Texas — The temperature at Abilene Regional Airport climbed to 99 degrees Tuesday afternoon. This just missed tying the record high temperature for the date of 100 set just 3 years ago. However, this was the hottest day so far of 2025. KTXS Almanac Temps - Today.pngOn the west side of Abilene, the temperature at Dyess Air Force Base climbed to 100 degrees. In San Angelo, the temperature at Mathis Field climbed to 101 degrees.

ABILENE, Texas — Our wet spring continues. Another wave of rain with embedded thunderstorms moved through or region Tuesday morning. Mathis Field on the south side of San Angelo measured 3.19 inches - for a new daily record for May 6th. This was also the 3 highest daily rainfall recorded in the month of May. Abilene Regional Airport reported 0.80 inches of rainfall for May 6th. Abilene is now 2.36 inches above normal for this far into 2025.

ABILENE, Texas — It was a wet month of April in Abilene, Texas. Rainfall measured at the Abilene Region Airport totaled 5.98 inches. This was the 8th wettest April on record. Full year records began in 1886 for Abilene. The wettest April was in 1890 with 9.80 inches of rainfall. This was over 4 inches above with is normally expected for the month of April. That "extra" rainfall helped to push our total for 2025 to 1 and 1/2 inches above normal.
