ALBANY — State Sen. Patricia Fahy took the oath of office Friday, succeeding state Sen. Neil Breslin in the 46th state Senate District. The Albany Democrat beat Republican challenger Ted Danz in November after Breslin announced last year that he would not seek reelection. The district covers Montgomery County and portions of Albany and Schenectady counties.

NEW SCOTLAND — Volunteers gather in Clarksville Thursday to help give away toys for children who live in Albany County's Hilltowns. Helpers from the sheriff’s office, CSX railroad, Toys for Tots, and other organizations assisted in gathering holiday gifts for children for the annual Hilltown Christmas event for rural families in need. ALBANY — Albany's speed limit will not drop to 25 mph until Jan. 1, but drivers entering the city are already getting a sneak peek. A signs posted on a road near the Port of Albany and around the South End already tell people the city speed limit is 25 mph. A 25-mph sign is already greeting voters near the city line in Menands. The city is in the process of replacing the 30-mph signs across the city. The speed limit will remain 30 mph until New Year's Day.
