XAVIER SMITH Main Street Media The Lebanon City Council approved a Wilson County Sports Complex usage agreement with the Wilson United Soccer League during its meeting last week. Wilson United will pay Lebanon $15 per recreational player per season for residents, $25 for non-residents, $75 for select players that participate in two seasons and $50 for select players who participate in one season in exchange for usage of the complex, located on Highway 231 just south of Stumpy Lane.

XAVIER SMITH Main Street Media The Wilson County Budget Committee approved an increase to the county’s income limit for the state property tax freeze program aimed at helping senior citizens. Tennessee allows counties to participate in the state’s Property Tax Relief Program. Property owners at least 65 years old have their property tax payment amount frozen for the following year regardless if there is a property tax or property value increase.

XAVIER SMITH Main Street Media New Leash on Life Director Angela Chapman and emcee MJ Lucas put up a golf bag for auction during the Night Out with New Leash on Life event last Thursday at Cumberland University Alumni Hall. More than 100 people attended the event. Last year more than 500 animals were adopted through Lebanon-based New Leash on Life, and more than 5,000 spay and neuter procedures were performed. Comedian Brian Bates was the entertainment for the event.

XAVIER SMITH Main Street Media Longtime Wilson County government employee Linda Shehane is being remembered for her service to county residents by many people, including Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto. Shehane died April 9 at Wilson Manor in Lebanon. She was 82. Shehane was a former teacher’s aide and worked in Wilson County government from 1973 to 2012 in the mayor’s, finance and clerk’s offices.
