Plymouth voters have denied their police department. It was one of several votes throughout the region Tuesday, which included a library renewal in Shelby. Officers from the Plymouth Police Department serve residents of both Richland and Huron counties. The vote failed in both counties: in Richland, it was 35 against and 28 for, and in Huron it was 37 against and 13 for. The final combined tally was 72 (63.72%) against and 41 (36.28%) for.

The renewal tax passed by 205 votes to 191 in Richland County and 10 to 4 in Ashland County — the combined tallies were 215 (52.44%) in favor and 195 (47.56%) against. The funds will help the district with its "vision of pursuing excellence for every child, every day," according to Brad Herman, superintendent of Lucas Local Schools. The 6-mill operational levy has been in place for 15 years.

Ohio's rains are finally ending. Skies throughout the Buckeye State should start to clear Wednesday, according to Alex Kennedy, a meteorologist who works in the Cleveland office of the National Weather Service.
