It was just another Friday for Benjamin “Ben” Brehm Jr., at the Palmyra Bowling Center. For the past 35 years, he’s been knocking down pins every Friday at the center as part of a Senior Bowling league. But this day was special: Brehm’s 100th birthday party. Family and fellow bowlers showed up to celebrate Brehm, who continues to impress everyone with his prowess as a bowling centenarian. His birthday is Monday, June 2.

A 39-year-old woman who’s been on the run from homicide charges for nearly four years tried to fool police by giving them her sister’s name last week in Lancaster County, police said. Kenda Hess, of Chester County, was stopped by York City police around 3 a.m. on May 21 for undisclosed violations. She identified herself as Koty Hess and was arrested for a felony retail theft warrant linked to Koty Hess with Quarryville Borough police, according to a press release.

The three-vehicle crash happened at 6:35 a.m. on Route 30 east at the Mountville exit near Field of Screams, according to Lancaster County dispatch. A motorcyclist was injured in the crash, WGAL reported. The crash caused a lane restriction, according to 511PA.

A new idea emerged this week for the William Penn campus that would demolish the most damaged parts of the building, retain the iconic pillars and create much-needed soccer fields for students. It would be the least expensive plan, among three presented in recent weeks, to repurpose the long languishing vacant former high school in uptown.

NewsPublished: May. 26, 2025, 2:53 p.m.An overturned tractor-trailer is causing major delays on I-83 Monday afternoon in Dauphin County, according to PennDOT. The crash happened at 1:30 p.m. when an overturned tractor-trailer blocked the right side of the ramp, connecting I-83 southbound and 322 eastbound, according to PennDOT spokeswoman Fritzi Schreffler. Schreffler said there will be lane restrictions on the ramp as crews unload the truck, which was carrying frozen shrimp fajitas mixes.
