    BLAIR, Neb. (WOWT) - The Papio-Missouri Natural Resources District says lab test results confirmed Thursday that water in Washington County Rural Water Systems 1 and 2 is safe to drink. This also applies to Fort Calhoun and Lakeland Estates Water Company wholesale customers. E. coli concerns had isolated all customers from the Blair water supply Wednesday night. M.U.D. began providing water to WCRW customers in the interim.

    LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - The Nebraska Department of Agriculture announced Thursday it has confirmed the first case of an incurable equine virus found in the state in over a decade. The NDA reports a case of equine infectious anemia, or EIA, has been confirmed in a horse in Colfax County. It’s the first case in Nebraska since 2013. The horses on the infected premises are being quarantined and will be released after state regulations are met.

    OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Douglas County Health Department says although fireworks are a July 4th staple, they pose a serious risk to those who are sensitive to air pollution. DCHD warns that extensive use of private fireworks, along with those used by professionals at displays around the metro, will likely result in higher concentrations of smoke and particulates in the air. Late Thursday evening into early Friday is the peak time of concern.

    OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Douglas County Health Department and City of Omaha's Stormwater Division are sounding the alarm about a harmful algal bloom at a west Omaha reservoir. DCHD says the city analyzed samples from Candlewood Reservoir near 132nd and West Dodge Road, taken earlier this week. The results show total microcystin levels are above the threshold of eight parts per billion. The public is advised not to swim in the reservoir for the duration of this alert.
