Government energy regulator Ofgem has confirmed initial funding for the project, which could see 114 miles (183km) of pylons built from near Norwich to Tilbury, Essex. Planning permission has not yet been granted for the National Grid scheme, which would carry electricity produced by offshore wind farms.
