COLUMBIA — TikTok creator Keith Lee is known for his food reviews, bluntly honest and filmed live on camera. His latest rating took him on a seven-hour trip to a neighborhood outside of Columbia for "the world's best fried chicken." Lee was on a mission to visit Bernard Harrison, aka BS Dining Experience, after the TikTok creator said he'd been hounded for over a year to try the Midlands man's fried chicken, which he deep fries in a large frying vat in his backyard.

ELGIN — Ratio, a Peruvian tapas restaurant known for its chef-driven menu and innovative cocktail program that drew diners out to the outer reaches of Richland County, will close after five years in operation, the restaurant announced May 1 on Instagram. Its last day of service will be June 28. Chef and owner Javier Uriarte said the decision to close "didn't come lightly." "With our lease coming to a close, and as life evolves, so do my priorities," he wrote in Instagram.

COLUMBIA — Ridley Crane remembers one of the Saturdays she was hosting Really Free Cola, a monthly market where people can bring items they no longer want or need to give away or trade with others in Columbia. A man was walking by and found a book he wanted. Crane told him it was free. He didn't — or couldn't — believe her. He insisted on paying until cheekily "swapping" a $1 bill for the item and jetting away from the market near Five Points.
