Established in 1990 by Ray and Christina Appen, who are both seasoned newspaper professionals with backgrounds at Knight-Ridder/Miami Herald, the company has a rich history in journalism. Today, it is managed by the next generation, with Hans Appen serving as Publisher and Carl Appen as Director of Business Development, while the original founders remain active in the business.

ATLANTA — The Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved $6.4 million May 7 for the Sheriff’s Office to retain, hire and pay overtime to employees providing detention services at its jail facilities. The supplemental funding is on top of the sheriff’s existing $151.5 million budget in fiscal year 2025.
