One in five U.S. teens say social media has negatively impacted their mental health and nearly half say it has a mostly negative impact on kids their age. A Pew Research Center report published Tuesday determined teens are growing more wary of social media. The survey, distributed to 1,391 U.S. teens ages 13 to 17 in the fall of 2024, found 48% agree social media has a largely negative effect on teens — up from 32% in 2022.

After a campus security manager found items including rope, food, water and blankets in her car, police learned she was the grandmother of a student at the school and was planning to kidnap the child. On the last day of school before summer break, a non-custodial parent convinced her child to run to the perimeter fence of her elementary school as she waited to lead her to a getaway car.

NORFOLK, Va. — Two men were shot late Saturday night at Norfolk State University (NSU). The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. on Presidential Parkway, one of the main thoroughfares on campus, 13 News Now reports. NSU spokesperson Stan Donaldson said the shots were fired in the school’s Greek Row section and that both NSU Police and Norfolk Police responded. The two victims were transported to local hospitals.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The CEO of an Edmond-based cybersecurity company has been arrested for allegedly carrying out a cyberattack on SSM St. Anthony Hospital last summer. The suspect, identified as Jeffrey Bowie, allegedly installed malware software on a hospital computer, triggering concerns about patient data security. According to investigators, the incident occurred on August 6, 2024, when Bowie entered St. Anthony Hospital and attempted to access multiple offices.
