Their parents or grandparents had immigrated to the U.S. in the early to mid-1800s, and most often settled on the East Coast or in the Upper Midwest. George Brackett, A.M. Yost, William Kingdon, the Schumacher Brothers and L.C. Engel were children of immigrants. The O.C. Sorensen story is different.
