Dear Car Talk:I just received notice of a class action settlement for excessive oil consumption on my 2013 Audi A4 Allroad. My car does consume a lot of oil. The class action would cover 75% of the repair costs. But here's the problem: Three days after receiving the notice, the Check Engine light came on. I brought it to my local foreign car specialist, and they determined the timing chain was the cause.

Dear Car Talk:Our new Toyota Tundra uses ALL of the available space in our garage. And if I want to close the garage door, I have to pull within inches of the front wall. Here's the problem: The automatic brake system continually hits the brakes for me every time I approach the wall, even though I am just creeping at 1 mph. Is there a danger in repeatedly having the auto brake system activate when I park each time? Will this damage the brakes? -- DanNo, but it might damage your neck, Dan.

Dear Car Talk:I have a 2000 Honda CR-V with 90,000 miles on it. Out of the blue, the shifter won't slide into "D." When you pull the shift lever toward you and move it out of Park into "D," it stops in "N" and goes no further. However, once it's in "N," if I stop pulling the lever toward myself and just push it down, it will then drop into "D" and drive and shift normally. But no matter what I do, I can't get the shifter to go into the gears lower than "D." The fluid is good and clean. I'm stuck.

Dear Car Talk:My wife and I are driving a couple of well-used cars. One is a 17-year-old Infiniti G35, and the other is a 12-year-old Toyota Camry. We are considering purchasing a new car: a 2025 Camry. After doing some research, we discovered that all Camrys are now hybrids. I guess Toyota is doing that to comply with the EPA mileage and pollution rules. Anyway, we have never driven a hybrid or know anyone who has one, so we don't know what to expect.

My Day with the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9: Savannah’s Electric CharmThe Hyundai Ioniq 9 is an all-new electric SUV that I recently spent the day driving through the enchanting streets of Savannah, Georgia. This three-row EV is Hyundai’s flagship, combining space for the family with modern tech and an upscale interior. Driving it is a bit like piloting a luxury lounge on wheels, and Savannah’s charm was the perfect stage. At home in New England, a smile from a stranger is a rare treat.
