A festival celebrating local beer, food, and Razorback baseball is set for this weekend in Fayetteville. Brew Pig Sooie, an outdoor beer festival featuring more than 20 breweries, will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17 outside Baum-Walker Stadium. The event includes unlimited sample pours, a souvenir 5 oz. tasting glass, local food trucks, and a live DJ—all ahead of Arkansas’ SEC matchup against Tennessee later that afternoon.

Two world-class musicians will bring their cross-country concert tour American Portraits to Fayetteville this month for a free public performance. Pianist Jonathan Levin and tenor Tyrone Chambers will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 224 N. East Ave. The concert blends classical music, jazz, traditional folk songs, spirituals, and original compositions to explore themes of unity, resilience, and national pride, according to a news release.

FAYETTEVILLE — Despite a heartbreaking walk-off loss in the SEC Tournament semifinals, the Arkansas softball team will begin its NCAA Tournament run at home after earning the No. 4 overall seed and the right to host a regional for the fifth consecutive year. The No. 6/7 Razorbacks (40-12) built an early 6-2 lead Friday against No. 2 Oklahoma in Athens, Ga., but ultimately fell 8-6 after the Sooners launched a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to seal the comeback.

Officials are looking to fill 17 positions on nine of the city’s boards, commissions and committees. The list of vacancies includes seats on the Parks, Natural Resources and Cultural Affairs Advisory Board, Fayetteville Arts Council, Environmental Action Committee and more. All volunteers must be registered voters who reside within the Fayetteville city limits. Those who are not Fayetteville registered voters will need to provide proof of residency.
