As a parent, you’ll do anything to make your kid’s birthday special. I was shocked, however, to see just how far the Hyatt Regency Long Beach went to make my son’s birthday stay at their property a massive success. For my son’s 4th birthday this year, we gave him a choice: a birthday party with friends from preschool or a night in a hotel. He went for the hotel (which proves that he has my genes).

You may be familiar with Masaharu Morimoto from his Iron Chef days, but now he’s a certified global celebrity chef with restaurant locations all over the world. On December 21st, Morimoto opened his very first stand-alone restaurant at sea on Holland America’s Nieuw Amsterdam line. The restaurant will also exist as a pop-up on the fleet’s other ten ships. Passengers can get the Morimoto experience for a $55 cover charge per person.
