They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Yet, in the video game space, we’re pretty sure that’s not so “clear cut.” Yes, there are “clones” and “ripoffs” aplenty, but those are basically vain attempts to try and “take a piece of the pie” that another hit title has created. The BETTER way to do it is to see what the competition does and then see how you can make it even better or, at least, make it unique. Look at Sonic the Hedgehog compared to Mario, and you’ll see what we mean.

To do what Roblox does every single day takes a lot of work. That might sound obvious at first, but it really needs to be said. Think about it. By their own estimates, they have between 80-90 million people playing every single day from places all across the world. Plus, they have to ensure that their game universe works on consoles, PC, mobile phones, and things like tablets. That’s a lot of optimization to do.

There are some things that people in the gaming space won’t fully understand until they actually “get into the weeds” and do it themselves. The game development process is very robust, and it takes a lot of work to get even the simplest things to happen properly. As such, the better the development tools, the better creators can adapt and make things happen quickly.

Incentive is a word that can mean different things to different people. For those who are “being asked to do something” by a “higher power,” the question often becomes, “What do I get for doing this?” In the Roblox universe, many creator studios have an “incentive” to make stuff for the game to both get exposure for their talents and to potentially make a lot of money off their games if they make something quality and popular, that is.

If we’re being honest here, there are very few gaming companies in the world right now that would deserve a full-on museum. A vast majority aren’t old enough to have one or are tied to other companies so much that they wouldn’t likely be able to do one on their own. Of the three main publishers, Xbox arguably doesn’t have enough to show for multiple reasons; Sony is “getting there” but likely won’t do one, and that’s why the Nintendo Museum stands above them all.
