    Social media influencer Danny Mondello, known online as Cugine (which is Italian slang for cousin), is opening an Italian sandwich shop and cafe called Casa Cugine (427 Graham Ave.) in Williamsburg. Casa Cugine will takeover the storefront that was previously home to Caffe Capri, a family-owned shop that closed in 2015 after serving the neighborhood since 1974.

    Pally (223 Kent Ave.), an all day café in Williamsburg, is having a soft opening on Thursday, June 5, starting at 10 a.m.Pally’s owner, Ali, is a North Brooklyn local who “grew up in the restaurant industry” and “has always had a love for hospitality.” Williamsburg is his “favorite part of the city, so opening something here just makes a lot of sense.” Ali named the eatery “Pally” after his beloved dog.

    Thief (595 Union Ave.), a four-year-old neighborhood bar in Williamsburg, has opened a daytime concept called No Sleep Cafe. No Sleep Cafe serves coffee and pastries from popular Greenpoint coffee shop and bakery Paloma (163 Nassau Ave.) Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.In addition to Paloma, Thief and No Sleep Cafe have partnered with Claudia’s (39 Bushwick Ave.), a Guatemalan restaurant in Williamsburg.

    Vegan Quick Bites (685 Manhattan Ave.), formerly known as Next Stop Vegan, announced that they will close their Greenpoint location in two weeks after serving fresh vegan food to the neighborhood for a little over a year. The last day of service will be June 15. Vegan Quick Bites is a tiny chain that offers 100% plant-based meals. Owners Blenlly Mena and Javier Saba opened the first Next Stop Vegan restaurant three years ago in Brooklyn Heights.
