Let’s get down and dirty. Several local business leaders broke a sweat to help with Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County’s 13th annual CEO Build. Like other Habitat builds, the end goal is a completed house. This one will be on Zora Street in the Nicholtown. The CEOs and their teams personally work on-site during construction, donating elbow grease, funding, and volunteer hours for the project.

Did you know a tap dancing icon is from right here in Greenville County? Tuesday, May 13 was National Tap Dance Day, and I was excited to celebrate with a group “Shim Sham” dance + performances from local tap dancers at the SC Children’s Theatre (after plans for an event at Camperdown were rained out). While there, I learned Clayton “Peg Leg” Bates is from right here in Greenville. He was born in Fountain Inn in 1907 and danced on the streets before losing a leg in a cotton gin accident.

Let’s take a look at some of the numbers. $288 million. That’s the total economic impact Flour Field + The Greenville Drive has had on our city. 500,000. That’s how many visitors attend games and other events at the stadium per year. 433. That’s how many business permits were applied for in the West End after the stadium opened. $277 million.
