Microsoft has softened its stance on support for Windows 10 security support for Microsoft 365 apps, extending the deadline from October by another three years. Microsoft has been trying to convince users to upgrade to Windows 11 ahead of the end of support for Windows 10 in October. So far, Statcounter global figures suggest Windows 10 still dominates with 53% of users versus 44% on Windows 11 – an improvement from a year ago when Windows 10 still held 70% of desktop Windows market share.

Spain is demanding answers from power suppliers about their cyber security in the wake of a day-long power outage, despite previous assessments suggesting hacking wasn't to blame. At the end of April, the Iberian peninsula was hit by widespread power outages. Most of the areas hit in Spain and Portugal returned to normal after ten hours, though it took a full 23 hours for Spain's electricity grid to be fully online.

Will a four-day workweek be the norm in Britain by the end of the decade? A majority of UK workers surveyed predict that could indeed be the case. Research by hybrid meeting company Owl Labs showed that 83% of those polled believe a four-day week will be more popular by 203, with nine out of ten younger workers agreeing – and many saying they expect it to overtake the five-day model.

The notorious LockBit ransomware group appears to have gone from cybercrime perpetrator to victim, as one of its dark web sites has been defaced. A new message on the site reads: "Don't do crime CRIME IS BAD xoxo from Prague", with a link to a MySQL database containing chats between the hackers and their victims.
