David was the founder of Cornell Outdoor Education and a widely published baseball writer, and I will be writing about his remarkable life later this summer, when a gathering will be held to celebrate his life. John was a Physical Education teacher in the Ithaca City School District and a vital part of the Ithaca College baseball team for four decades.

    While Penn State took a gamble and focused heavily on shutting Cornell men’s lacrosse star CJ Kirst down in the NCAA semifinal, they lost that gamble when the rest of the Big Red filled in the gap. In the championship game against Maryland, Kirst exploded for six goals, capping off an unparalleled career and sealing the national championship and the Tewaaraton Award (which is widely described as the Heisman Trophy of collegiate lacrosse).
