North Dakota fire crews battled 60 wildfires that started last weekend

Bismarck, N.D. – State government leaders say the recent hot, dry and windy weather touched off dozens of wildfires last weekend across North Dakota. The Department of Emergency Services says 60 fires started between May 10th and May 11th, burning 1,100 acres of land. 20 of those fires began on Sunday and burned in the western and central part of the state. One of the fires scorched 500 acres in Morton County. Another in Sheridan County destroyed 125 acres including a tractor.
West Fargo to hold public info session on Growth Area Master Plan

A reporter from Valley News Live was on scene reporting that crews were working to clean it up Monday morning. According to unconfirmed scanner traffic, crews are blocking traffic near Center Ave. and 14th St. N due to the break. Our reporter noted large puddles on the road. Details are limited at this time, but expect some delays if you are traveling in that area.
Delta Airlines to cut flights from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport

(MINNEAPOLIS, MINN) — Delta Airlines is cutting four flights from Minnesota-St. Paul International Airport. The route cuts involve daily flights from MSP to Albuquerque, New Mexico; Buffalo, New York; Fairbanks, Alaska; and Great Falls, Montana. Delta has confirmed that the Albuquerque route will end in November, while the other three will come to an end at the end of September.
Fargo Davies High School principal steps down

In a statement to Flag Family News, FPS says Troy Cody is leaving to “pursue a new career opportunity” outside of education. Cody, who was the school principal since 2012, says he’s becoming an investment advisor at GoalQuest Financial Group in Fargo. “My time at Davies has been the greatest honor of my career,” wrote Cody.

Grafton woman charged for striking minor while intoxicated

(GRAND FORKS, ND) – Court documents say a Grafton woman has been charged with a pair of felonies after striking a minor in Grand Forks. Grand Forks Police say they responded to a report of a disturbance between multiple juveniles in the early morning hours of May 3. While responding, officers learned that a juvenile female had been struck by a vehicle. When they arrived on scene, officers learned 18-year-old Vanessa Nielsen was operating a vehicle and, while driving away, struck the female.
Trump names U.S. Attorney nominee for Minnesota

(WASHINGTON, DC) — President Donald Trump is selecting a University of Minnesota grad student as the state’s top prosecutor. He named Daniel Rosen to the role of U.S. Attorney of Minnesota. The selection was among three candidates recommended by the state’s top Republican congressional delegation to replace Andrew Lugar, who left last year. Rosen will need to be confirmed by the U. S. Senate.
